"I will fight for your child's educational future." - Albert Branson
No Child Left Behind
Albert Branson believes teachers should not spend the entire academic year preparing students to fill in bubbles on standardized tests. He will improve the assessments used to track student progress to measure readiness for college and the workplace and improve student learning in a timely, individualized manner.
Create Healthy Environments for Children
Albert Branson will work with schools to create healthier environments for children. His approach includes assistance with contract policy development for local vendors. He will also address grant support for school-based health screening programs and clinical services, increased financial support for physical education, and educational programs for students.
Promote Pre-School Education
Albert Branson will provide critical support to young children and their parents. The key emphasis will be on early care and education for infants, which is essential for children preparing to enter kindergarten. Albert will create Early Learning Challenge Grants to promote state "zero to five" efforts and help states move toward voluntary, universal pre-school.
School Incentives for Dropout Prevention
Albert will address the dropout crisis by proposing legislation to provide funding to school districts to invest in intervention strategies in middle school. This will include strategies such as personal academic plans, teaching teams, parental involvement, mentoring, intensive reading and math instruction, and extended learning time.
Voluntary Performance Assessment
Albert will create a voluntary performance assessment to ensure that every new educator is trained and ready to walk into the classroom and start teaching effectively.
